2D-PRINTABLE partners explored novel chemical functionalisation strategies for two distinct classes of materials: layered compounds (CrSBr, Bi₂Se₂O₅, VOCl, and PrOCl) and metal diborides (MgB₂, ZrB₂, and CrB₂). For layered compounds, the focus was on non-covalent functionalisation using a range of surfactants. This type of functionalisation enables the modification of material surfaces without altering their intrinsic structure, allowing for the tuning of properties such as optical characteristics through dielectric interactions. For metal diborides, 2D-PRINTABLE partners investigated oxidation pathways and the impact of oxygen exposure on their properties. For both types of materials, synthesis and processing techniques have been optimised by our partners to ensure that materials are produced with high purity and controlled morphology, ensuring reproducibility and stability.
This approach, which combines functionalisation strategies with advanced material fabrication, lays the foundation for future applications, enhancing the properties of both layered materials and metal diborides.
Congratulations to 2D-PRINTABLE partners on this achievement!
