2D-PRINTABLE Milestone achieved on 2D materials exfoliation and characterisation!
We proudly share that our consortium achieved another 2D-PRINTABLE Milestone – “First new 2D materials exfoliated and fully characterized”. The novel 3D synthetized crystals were subjected to liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE), resulting in new 2D materials displaying outstanding properties. These materials were subsequently exfoliated by sonication-assisted liquid-phase exfoliation in different solvents and by electrochemical exfoliation. Among others, LaOBr, LaOCl, As2S3 and CrSBr were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Examples of exfoliated sheets of LaOBr and LaOCl are presented below. Additionally, novel properties have been obtained by electrochemical intercalation and LPE of materials such as MoS2, WSe2, NbSe2 and WS2. Basic characterization and optimization of the LPE is ongoing for the following materials: FeOCl, TiOCl, VOCl, PrOBr, PrOCl, NdOBr, NdOCl EuOBr, Na2Mn2TeO6 and Na2Cu2TeO6.
